Rashford class are having an awesome summer term! We have been involved in a wide selection of activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Check out the information and pictures below to see what we have been up to.

Healthy Living Week

We took part in a whole host of sporting activities such as athletics, dance, basketball, team games and races. All children participated beautifully and had lots of fun trying out different activities!

Cress Investigation

In science, we have conducted a scientific enquiry into how cress seeds change over time. We planned, executed and evaluated our observations and had a real good look into how seeds change over a couple of weeks.

DT Day!

In our final DT project of Year 1, we had a go at making our own moving vehicles. We worked in small teams to design, create and test our models then evaluated them based on their speed, accuracy and appearance. We had so much fun making these vehicles and look forwards to fine tuning our making skills when we move into Year 2!

Our visit to Year 2

All children had a wonderful day visiting their new teachers and spending time in their Year 2 classroom. They were very excited to tell me all about their fun day when they returned to Year 1 on Monday morning. Their new teachers are Miss Rayns and Mrs Rowe and they will soon be known as Nightingale Class named after Florence Nightingale.

Upcoming Events

Library visit: On Tuesday 15th July we will be having our final visit to Keyworth Library. We will leave school at 9:55 and return around 10:45. If any parents can support with our visit, please let me know by the end of this week.

Teddy Bear Picnic: To celebrate our final week in Year 1, we will be holding a Teddy Bear Picnic. As part of our non-fiction writing unit this term, we will be learning how to write an invitation. The picnic will take place around 10:30am on Thursday 24th July. I will provide the children with a small selection of sweet and savory treats so please have a chat with me if you would like further information.  

School performances: Tuesday 22nd July AM, Wednesday 23rd July PM & evening
