Next week, our Big Idea questions will all be about time… A really tricky concept for young children to understand.
We’ll be helping the children talk about things that have happened, are happening now, and will happen soon.
Our questions will be:
-
😊 Can I talk about my day?
-
🌞 What is happening tomorrow?
-
🌙 What happened yesterday?
We’ll be using our classroom timeline, which shows the months of the year and pictures of all the exciting things we’ve done in September and October. This will help the children remember and talk about past events using the right tense.
You can support this at home by chatting with your child about what they did during the day, what you might do tomorrow, or by looking at family photos together to talk about special memories/celebrations 📸 (thank you to everyone that has sent these in on tapestry, they help bring our topic to life!).
We will be sharing this story to help with the concept of time:
We will also be continuing to learn our ‘Talk for Write’ story… The Gingerbread Man! 🍪 The children will be drawing story maps to help them re-tell the story and singing along to the catchy tune too 🎶.

Please remember that school will be closed for all pupils on Monday 17th November for an INSET day.

Tomorrow (Friday 14th November) we’ll be fundraising for Children in Need in school. Each class has been completing Acts of Kindness throughout the week, which Mrs King will soon be sharing in a blog post – so keep your eyes peeled! 👀
It will be normal school uniform tomorrow, but any donations or sponsorships for our Acts of Kindness will go directly to Children in Need. Thank you for your continued support 💛.
