Hello everyone!
On Friday the current Year 2s (soon to be Year 3s!) had a wonderful opportunity to spend some time in their new Year 3 classroom. We explored the routines and expectations for next year, talked about what might change, and celebrated the things that will stay the same.
In the morning, we discovered our new class name…Georgia O’Keeffe! We read from the Little People, Big Dreams series to learn all about her inspiring life and work. Afterwards, we created beautiful flowers for our whole-school display. Each petal was decorated with drawings or writing about “what makes us special?”and the results were truly heartwarming.
Later, we got to know each other better through sharing facts about one another. It was amazing to learn so many interesting things about each of you! In the afternoon, we took part in rounders and learnt the importance of teamwork.
Below, I’ve attached a blog link to the DoodleMaths Summer Challenge — a great way to earn a shiny new badge! https://www.keyworth.notts.sch.uk/class-blogs/doodle-summer-challenge/ . I have also attached a video of the book ‘Little people, big dreams’ based on our class person Georgia O’Keeffe.
Below you’ll find a list of common exception words, transition to a new year group and lovely summer activities to enjoy over the break.
It was such a joy meeting you all last week, and I’m so excited to begin our journey together in September!
See you soon,
Miss Fowell
