🧸 Year 1 Toy Day: A Trip Through Time!
Last week, Year 1 had a very special visitor from Part Take History who brought with them a treasure trove of toys from the past! Our classroom was transformed into a mini museum of play, and we were ready to explore, discover, and—most importantly—have fun!
🚂 Toys Through the Ages
We got hands-on with all sorts of toys from long ago. There were:
- Push and pull toys that clacked and rolled across the floor
- Imagination toys that sparked stories and adventures
- Battery-powered toys that whirred and beeped
- Wind-up toys that danced and spun with a twist of a key
It was amazing to see how toys have changed over time. We compared these vintage treasures to our modern-day favourites and noticed some big differences!
🧵 What Are Toys Made Of?
We looked closely at what the toys were made from. Some were crafted from:
- Wood – smooth and sturdy
- Metal – shiny and cool to touch
- Fabric – soft and cuddly
- Plastic – colourful and bendy
We talked about how materials have changed and why some toys from the past looked a little worn or faded. That’s how we knew they were old—by comparing them to the bright, flashy toys we play with today!
🎉 Playtime with the Past
The best part? We got to play with the toys ourselves! It was so exciting to experience how children used to play, and we had loads of fun trying out each one. Some made us laugh, some made us think, and all of them made us smile.
Toy Day was a brilliant adventure into history, and we learned so much while having a blast. Thank you to Part Take History for bringing the past to life in the most playful way!
