Covid Symptoms

As we enter a new period of National Lockdown, it's worth reminding ourselves of the symptoms of covid-19.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • loss of change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you have noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

Check if you have coronavirus symptoms and seek medical advice at the following website: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/

See  flowchart below (covid advice for parents)  for help deciding whether your child should be in school

If you have symptoms of coronavirus – STAY AT HOME and follow the stay at home guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance

Check how long you should self-isolate for here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-long-to-self-isolate/

If you have symptoms of coronavirus you should arrange to be tested. A test can be arranged here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-an-antigen-test-to-check-if-you- have-coronavirus/

If AT ANY POINT your child has received a positive test for covid-19, please call school at the end of the period of self-isolation BEFORE they return to school
