Summer 2 is here! Ā Letās make it a fantastic finish to the year!
Hello everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for our final half-term in Year 3. We have an exciting few weeks ahead, filled with learning, creativity, and plenty of memorable moments!
What are we learning this half-term?
This term, weāll be exploring the fascinating world of the Ancient Greeks. From powerful myths and legendary gods to influential ideas that still shape our lives today, itās going to be an engaging and inspiring topic.
You can find full details of what weāll be covering via the curriculum overview here (also attached at the bottom of this blog).
Below, youāll find our History and Science Knowledge Organisers, which outline the key learning for this half-term. Additionally, youāll see the spelling units weāll be covering in class.
Ā Our Class Texts:
Weāll be continuing withĀ Varjak PawĀ by SF Said, alongside exploring a range ofĀ Ancient Greek myths. If youāre able to, feel free to purchase a copy ofĀ Varjak PawĀ to support your childās reading at home.


School Expectations
To help your child thrive this half-term, here are a few key reminders:
- Reading: Please ensure your child reads at leastĀ 3 times a weekĀ at home. Donāt forget to sign their home-school book. Youāre also welcome to join us atĀ Reading Lair!
- DoodleMaths & DoodleSpell: Children should aim to stay in theĀ green zoneāthis means aroundĀ 40 minutes of practice per week.
- Ā Gold Award Goals: Many children are working toward theirĀ Gold Awardābut if your child is still on Silver, thatās absolutely fine! You can find the award criteria at the back of their home-school book.
- Stay Connected: Keep an eye on our class blog for updates, photos, and highlights from our learning journey.
PE
Year 3 will have PE sessions everyĀ Thursday afternoonĀ andĀ Friday afternoon.. Please ensure your child is prepared with the correct PE kit for each session.
PE Kit includes:
- Red top
- Black shorts or joggers
- Jewellery must be removed, andĀ longer hair should be tied up.
As some PE lessons will take place outdoors, please provideĀ additional layersĀ for colder days.Ā All kits should be clearly namedĀ to avoid any mix-ups.

Performance & Key Dates (please see letter below)
Weāve got some exciting events coming up, including our Treasure Island end-of-year performance! We are looking forward to putting on a fantastic performance. Please help make it special by providing your child with a costume as outlined below. All costumes to be in school no later than Friday 3rd of July in a named carrier bag. In Year 3 we are pirates (Please see costume letter attached below).

Saturday 13th June- KPNS Summer Festival (Summer Fair)
Monday 15th- 19th June- Healthy Living and Sports Week (Children in PE Kit all week)
Friday 19th June- Sports Day (9:15- 11:30ish) for Years 1-6
Monday 22nd June- INSET DAY (School closed to pupils)
Tuesday 23rd June- Class Photos
Tuesday 21st July- Morning Performance
Wednesday 22nd July- 2pm and 6:30pm (Please put the evening performance in the diary so all the children can attend).
Friday 24th July- Break up for the Summer holidays
